Canada Express Entry is a system launched on January 1, 2015 to manage Canadian permanent residence application by the Canadian Immigration Authorities. The objective of this system is to promote certain economic immigration programs in order to fill the labour or skill gap as per the requirement. It aims at expediting the immigration of those skilled workers whose immigration is mutually beneficial to both the immigrant and the Canadians economically.
Under this system, there is an eligibility criteria that has to be met depending upon the age, nationality, language ability, education, work experience, family members, details of any job offer etc. Based on these factors, if the prospect is obtaining a score of 67, then he or she is considered eligible to apply. Further, the eligible candidates submit their application under the Canada Express Entry System and the Canadian Government issues invites to successful candidates through an Express Entry draw, based on their Canada Express Entry points.
Your chances of invitation are dependent upon your ranking in the Express Entry pool based on a point-based system known as Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The CRS score is basically a competitive tool to choose the best of applicants among the whole lot in the Express Entry pool. You can check your estimated scores through Express Entry Points Calculator which is easily accessible on the websites. It will assess you on the basis of your age, language ability, level of education, Canadian work experience and other additional factors, if any.
As per the trends, the Canadian Government conducts an Express Entry Draw every two weeks approximately and invites the highest rankers or the most competitive Express Entry candidates to apply for the Permanent Resident status in Canada. These invited applicants are those who have secured more than the cut-off score prescribed by the federal government in the draw. This cut-off score is also determined by using the CRS system. The invited applicants receive an official Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
After receiving an ITA from Canadian Government, the applicant is given 90 days to complete the formalities prescribed to attain permanent residency. He or she is expected to submit the visa application along with all the required documents such as Passport, PCC from Indian Consulate, Language Proficiency Test results, all personal documents like Date of Birth certificate, marriage/divorce certificate (if applicable), medical examination certificate, education proofs, employment records, proof of financial stability and any other documents that may be asked by Canadian Authorities. Further, the applicant has to pay the fee and should wait for his/her visa to be approved.
Therefore, as the name suggests, Canada Express Entry System is designed to expedite the process of Canada Immigration. It is an online mode of application which saves time and is more efficient as compared to paper-based mode. It is also fair in term of merit of the applicants as it has replaced the earlier first-come first-served model of immigration selection system. Also, it is more responsible and effective as it directly responds to the regional labour shortages by prioritizing individuals based on their skill set and how well do they fit in to become a permanent resident of Canada.
